What do you see when you look in the mirror? I know that I only see the flaws unless I force myself to focus on the areas that others might think are attractive. Finding them is always a hunting expedition, but I know I need to do it, to find the positive, before I leave the house. I need to feel that confidence.
I always wonder what other people see when they look at me. Are they focusing on the size and shape of my eyes or the fact that they are dancing with mischief. Do they see the bump in my nose? My long face and skinny chin?
Dove has explored this idea with their newest in the Campaign for Real Beauty, a project called Real Beauty Sketches. Dove hired a criminal sketch artist to draw women as they described themsevles and then again as described by a stranger they had met for just a few moments.
The results were eye-awakening, and served as a reminder of how hard we women are on ourselves, and that we need to find the beauty in the mirror every time we look.
