Because together we have six awesome kids: four teens and two tweens. Soon, our homes will be outnumbered by the Teenage Force.

Because we’re writers and can’t stop ourselves from writing about what life is like as midlife moms. We’re not afraid to tell it like it is.

Because we often felt misunderstood growing up and we remember being damn sure we Knew It All. Eventually, it hit us that no one knows it all. Not even parents.

Because the nursing debate, fancy strollers and co-sleeping are relics from our past. Now we’re stalking our kids’ Facebook, sharing their clothes, teaching them to stay safe, and walking the tightrope between Mom and Friend.

Because we get that drugs, alcohol and sex are part of teen life. But when it comes to the power of the Internet, we’re still learning.

Because no matter how cool we think we are, there’s always a Generation Gap.

Because we don’t just love our kids. We really like each one of them. A lot.

Because sometimes we feel fazed and need a place to rant, share, laugh and learn with parents at our stage of life.

    Hello Mara and Randi
I love this blog and know that it will be a great hangout for me as our kids continue into this stage of their lives! Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger award. If you feel like participating (and have the time to do so), please visit my blog http://avision4rkids.com for the details. I love that you say it like it is, and am a believer that it doesn’t help anyone to have our heads in the sand with these issues! Thank you!
